Preliminary Material

Preliminary exercise: Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

We decided this should be done in a large classroom making it easier to film the shot reverse shot. I decided to shoot the preliminary film indoors to avoid any problems with weather and lighting. The casting was not taken into any great level of consideration as the quality of acting was not an important aspect of the clip.
This was near enough the first time I had filmed anything with good quality equipment, because of this I took just the standard equipment to film our scenes because I did not need any equipment that required me to take any special shots or suitable for outdoor conditions.

Summary of our preliminary material:

·                     A man walks down a long corridor
·                     He opens a door to his left
·                     He walks into a classroom
·                     The man sees a teacher at a desk
·                     He joins the teacher at the desk and sits down
·                     The teacher tells him off for being late
·                     The man leaves
